It all starts as a mason tender to learn the basic skills through the Masonry Training Institute. From there, WASCO offers over 20 career paths many with increasing responsibility and pay.
3 Levels
Acts as an assistant to the mason by keeping mason supplied with material to construct wall. Also, but not limited to, building scaffolds, mixes mortar, preforms saw cuts and general clean up duties.
Learning the masonry trade through a accredited training program that has both classroom and field on the job training.
Understands & demonstrates set-up, pumping & clean-up of entire concrete grout pumping process.
Knowledge & skill of multiple masonry cleaning methods and safe use of proper type of chemical cleaning agents.
3 Levels
Knowledge & Skill to safely operate lift and preform general maintenance of large construction forklift on construction project sites.
Is responsible to lead masonry team to safely & productively complete projects. Work directly with field site employees under direction of Field Supervisor or Project Mgr.
4 Types
Are responsible for safely building, maintaining and taking down various types of masonry scaffold structures.
Knowledge and experience with interlocking pavers both hand and machine set applications for sidewalks, walkway, patios, driveways and parking lots.
Experience in hardscapes including Segmental and interlocking engineered retaining walls with step installation, proper drainage and grading.
Learning the masonry restoration specialty trade through an accredited training program that has both classroom and field on the job training.
A mason is a skilled trades person who works with different types of materials including brick, block and stone to build structures.
Assists foreman to ensure project site safety and productivity are maximized. Works hands on with the site employees.
Is responsible to lead masonry team on the project site to safely and productively complete projects. Works hands on with the site employees.
Completes masonry projects by planning, organizing & controlling multiple crews. Also completes safety / quality inspection on site and works with any subcontractors.
Ensures construction site is safe and work is carried out to assigned schedule and resolves problems that arise. Keeps records and reports on production and looks to improve efficiency.
Controls time, cost and quality of construction projects. Often negotiates with architects, vendors, other trades and workers. May oversee multiple projects or single large project.
A skilled tradesman with knowledge of masonry process such as masonry cut out and tuckpointing, patching and repointing, cleaning masonry, leak investigation and flashing repairs, caulking and coatings.

Controls revenues, time, costs, and quality of construction for projects. Has dedicated crews for completion of generated revenue from established customer base. Negotiates work with owners, property managers, architects, and general contractors. Will oversee multiple projects at a time.
